Johnson Development Appoints Vice President/General Manager for New Community
Johnson Development has promoted Jacob W. Rice to Vice President and General Manager of its new community in Katy.
Rice has been with Johnson Development since May 2022 serving as Senior Development Manager at Cross Creek Ranch before being promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the new 1,130-acre Waller County community. He previously worked as Senior Land Development Manager at Toll Brothers and has been involved with three award-winning master-planned communities. Rice holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Texas A&M University.
“Jacob has proven himself with his exemplary work at Cross Creek Ranch — one of our largest and best-selling communities,” said Michael Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Development. “We are excited to have someone of his caliber lead development of this new community.”
The community — located just north of Interstate 10 near Morton Road and FM 2855 — is being planned for approximately 2,400 homes. Students will attend schools within Katy Independent School District, and homes will have a Katy address. Home sales are expected to begin in early 2025.
Johnson Development announced acquisition of the property in early 2023.
Johnson Development has active communities throughout the Houston region — including Fort Bend County, Galveston County, Montgomery County and Harris County — as well as communities in Dallas Fort-Worth, the Austin area and greater Atlanta. It has had more communities ranked among the nation’s top-selling than any other developer over the last 10 years.
